An excellent opportunity has arisen for dynamic team players to join a team of decision makers to support the Acute Medicine department at Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust (NLaG) as a Specialty Doctor with an interest in Acute Medicine, at Diana Princess of Wales Hospital, (DPOW) Grimsby and Scunthorpe General Hospital.

Main duties of the job
NLaG is developing and investing in its acute care model. Integrated Acute Assessment Units (IAAU), including Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC), have been in place since 2020. Two purpose built Emergency Departments have recently opened, with a full refurbishment progress of IAAU facilities ongoing. Information systems have been recently modernised to improve patient care and further initiatives are progressing to deliver a full Electronic Patient Record. State of the art diagnostics are available 24/7, with new MRI and CT facilities recently opened. This really is an exciting time to join us.

The post would suite an enthusiastic team player dedicated to high quality patient care. The opportunity exists to work in a non-hierarchical setting and offer a wide range of Acute Medicine procedures in this busy General Hospitals
The post holder is expected to contribute to a service which is both Consultant-led and delivered.
- Undertake a daily ward round of the allocated bed base
- Review all new medical admissions when rostered on- call duty within the timeframe of the operational standard for the AAU and remain responsible for the care of these patients until they are either discharged from AAU or transferred to the specialty ward.
- Manage short stay acute medical admissions
- Assess all new admissions and refer them to appropriate speciality, with transfer of care.
- Direct and manage the team to deliver effective, safe, and timely care in line with the operating standards of the AAU
- Ensure appropriate handover of care at the end of a shift to the next responsible clinician.
- Liaise with specialty clinicians to facilitate their early involvement
- Further develop functional links with the community to facilitate seamless transfer of patients between the community and the hospital.
- Ensure timely completion of all documentation pertinent to an admission, transfer, discharge, or death, in line with hospital standards.
- Supervise and ensure robust and effective hospital clinical handover each morning
An in-house pharmacist oversees medicine reconciliation, VTE risk assessment and antibiotic prescribing.

- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- Full registration with the GMC at time of appointment.
- Evidence of achievement of ST1/CT1 competences in a relevant specialty at time of application and likelihood of achieving ST2/CT2 competences in a relevant specialty by the start date of the post.
- Evidence of 4 years (FTE) postgraduate training in the UK (or equivalent training) of which at least 2 year's training must be in relevant specialty or a recognised equivalent training.
