Main duties of the job
This post will be based at our Grimsby site, where our Breast Services are delivered from the Pink Rose Suite. Radiology Facilities include 2 x Hologic digital mammography suites (2023) with stereotactic capabilities, and 2 breast ultrasound / interventional suites, equipped with up-to-date Esaote Ultrasound machines. In addition, Breast MRI is offered at both of our main sites, with reporting facilities available within the Pink Rose suite as well as within the Radiology departments.
As a senior employee of the Trust the post-holder will work in close co-operation with, and support, other clinical, medical, professional and managerial colleagues in providing high quality healthcare to the Trust's patients.Integral to the responsibilities of the post are the following requirements:To ensure the provision of a first class clinical serviceTo provide effective leadership to junior doctors and medical studentsTo undertake all work in accordance with the Trust's procedures and operating policiesTo conduct clinical practice in accordance with contractual requirements and within the parameters of the Trust's and Operational Group's services plans.

This new post is intended for a breast radiologist, to provide 7.5 sessions of breast imaging and interventional biopsy, including breast screening as well as 1.5 sessions of SPA (Supporting Professional Activities) and 1.0 sessions for administration. Additional training will be provided for breast screening activity if needed.
A second sub specialist interest will be accommodated where possible.
The post has arisen because of a rising demand for diagnostic and interventional breast symptomatic imaging.
The post would suit a good team player dedicated to high quality patient care. The opportunity exists to work in a non-hierarchical setting and offer a wide range of radiology procedures in this busy DGH.
The post holder will be expected to share in the general workload of the department and develop special interests complimentary to those of existing Consultants locally and regionally.
The appointee will be expected to contribute to clinical meetings including multidisciplinary cancer meetings.
