Job summary
We are seeking to appoint 1 permanent Specialty Doctor in Otolaryngology to join our forward thinking, transforming and expanding department. The successful appointee will join a team of 5 Consultants and 6 Specialty Doctors to provide services primarily based at Diana Princess of Wales but also working at Scunthorpe General Hospital and some community settings.
The post would suit a good team player dedicated to high quality patient care. The opportunity exists to work in a non-hierarchical setting and offer a wide range of Otolaryngology procedures in this busy 3 site hospital Trust.
Main duties of the job
The post will be essentially those of a post-fellowship Registrar reporting directly to his/her Consultant and would include:
The post holder will assist in providing day-to-day care and management of patients on the ward and in outpatients, supervising the work of the CT1's and F2's and acting as an intermediate between these and the Consultants.
The post-holder will provide expert assistance to the Consultant in the operating theatre, and on such occasions as are necessary for service provision should act as First Surgeon.
The post-holder will help to provide continuity of care, and service provision in the absence of the named Consultant, and this to include outpatient and inpatient services.
The post-holder is specifically charged with carrying out daily ward-rounds to ensure that junior staff understand and progress the patients along their clinical course.
The post-holder will assist in the provision of an Emergency service as part of an on-call rota.
As an employee of the Trust the post-holder will work in close co-operation with, and support, other clinical, medical, professional and managerial colleagues in providing high quality healthcare to the Trusts patients.
