Job summary

We are looking to recruit a talented, motivated individual to the role of Senior Information Analyst. This post will be working within the Information Services and will be a key link with the Workforce Team.

The Information Services Team is responsible for the provision and development of high-quality information to aid the interpretation of operational performance and decision making. The role will require operational working across the Trust. The permanent base is Scunthorpe (Butterwick & Beacon House) and includes an element of working from home, but the post holder will be required to visit other sites of the Trust as and when required.The post holder will be responsible for actively contributing to the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the provision of robust performance management reporting framework, supported by data, in line with the Trust's performance framework. This will be consistent with the Trust's Strategic Direction, which in turn actively promotes a culture of excellence. This supports the development and implementation of effective reporting systems at all levels of the organisation in ways that support clear accountability and encourage achievement of all key targets whether externally or internally set.The post holder will be responsible for interpreting and analysing high risk areas and will provide specialist support to operational services to proactively rectify and address under performance.

Main duties of the job

An opportunity has arisen with the Trusts Information Department and we are looking to recruit a talented, motivation individual to the role of an Senior Information Analyst.The Information Team plays an essential role in the provision of high-quality information for performance and operational management, business intelligence, strategic planning and patient care. Examples of some core requirements of the role will include responsibility for producing and submitting a range of datasets, returns and reports to meet a range of national requirements including facilitating the monitoring of performance indicators within the organisation, workforce reporting as well as responding to ad-hoc requests in a timely manner.Are you someone who has excellent interpersonal skills, is an independent thinker and exceptional analytical skills? We are looking for someone who can understand and discuss an issue, investigate, and aggregate data from a wide range of sources (both internally and externally) analyse the data, and then communicate findings to a range of different audiences succinctly and confidently.The successful candidate will be a good team player, who can manage their own workload and work to deadlines successfully. The candidate will also be an experienced analyst with experience of Microsoft Products, especially Excel, T-SQL, Power BI, DAX, and SSRS.

  • This post requires very close working with different departments including for example Workforce, Operational Groups and Development team.
  • Support Quality Improvement via analysis.
  • To provide an analytical and reporting service across the Trust. Areas of data that will be analysed may include PU, Staffing, Falls, RTT, Cancer, inpatient/outpatient activity, A&E, Diagnostic, Theatres, and many other clinical information systems i.e., Cardiology, Maternity, Mortality, Radiology, Somerset, Audiology and Community.
  • To proactively support the Operational Groups and other departments with management reports.
  • Develop Business Intelligence within the Trust.
  • Develop datasets to support national requirements in line with Information Standards Board.
  • Develop and provide reports demonstrating the Trusts activity and performance for internal/external audiences.
  • To support and work closely with the Information Services Team.
  • Attend and represent the team in a confident manner at relevant internal and external meetings, frequently dealing with reactions from managers when reports delivered differ from the managers expectations and understand their differing points of view
  • Monitor and review the production and contents of reports by Analysts in the team.
  • Respond to ad-hoc requests for information as directed. Advise the person making the request as to the best way to provide the information. Utilise available technologies and software to present the information in an appropriate format.

  • Train and act continually as a source of advice to Operational Managers and SAT teams, to ensure they utilise the information within published reports effectively
  • Validate monthly inpatient and outpatient activity files for use by Information Analysts for statutory performance returns, Business Group reports and by Contracting Team.
  • Produce accurate Trust Activity and Performance Reports in line with National and local indicators.
  • Develop and produce activity reports, by bringing together data from a wide variety of sources, to allow the Trusts Strategy & Planning department to obtain income via Payment by Results process using complex data/trend analysis & presentation skills.
  • Analyse complex and patient sensitive data to show Trust trends and identify and highlight any areas of significance. Investigate any outlying areas using own initiative.
  • Develop, automate, and maintain regular performance reports in line with user requirements utilising all available technologies and data analysis tools to bring together the various complex and different information elements.
  • Whilst carrying out reporting, identify and investigate inconsistencies in data to improve data quality, which will enhance Trust performance.
