Job summary

An exciting opportunity, based at Scunthorpe General Hospital (to work trustwide) has arisen for a post within our Vascular Access Department for a HCA to undertake further training to develop skills to support the work of the clinicians. This will include assisting the Clinicians and Nurses ensuring safe insertion of vascular access with a wide range of acute, chronic & palliative conditions.

Main duties of the job

Delegated work and duties will be assigned and carried out under the direct and indirect supervision of a Vascular Access Nurse Specialist, in accordance with the competencies laid down for NVQ Level.

Where additional skills training is identified as required in the job description the post holder will not undertake those duties until training has been undertaken (except as part of the supervised learning experience).

Assist the Vascular Access Nurse Specialist in a range of patient care duties. Provide patient care according to the individual patient's clinical management plan associated with the need for vascular device insertions and/or ongoing management of such devices.
