Information:

This job is now closed

Job summary

Our medical wards across our three hospital sites (Scunthorpe, Grimsby and Goole) span a wide range of specialities - caring for patients in over 470 beds, medical nursing offers something for everyone. Whether your passion is in cardiology, oncology, respiratory, or our acute assessment areas, we are confident you will thrive in our supportive and forward-thinking teams. Naturally, acute medicine is a fast-paced environment with a high turnover of patients in our wards with most being admitted as acute emergencies, meaning the nursing interventions you deliver will truly make the difference to our patients and their loved ones.

This is a really exciting opportunity for you join our dynamic team. We are currently undertaking refurbishment works to build and create our new IAAU/SDEC to compliment our new state of the art Emergency Department. All successful candidates will therefore be expected to undertake shifts within IAAU in readiness for our transition.

Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has come up for a dynamic staff nurse to join the Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) at SGH.

Same day emergency care (SDEC) is one of the many ways the NHS is working to provide the right care, in the right place, at the right time for patients.

It aims to benefit both patients and the healthcare system by reducing waiting times and hospital admissions, where appropriate.

We have frailty nurses who are integrated into our team and going forward we will be welcoming additional specialties.

Our opening hours are 0800-2200

Shifts are 0800-2000 or 1000 to 2200 and we operate 7 days per week.

The unit is fast-paced, well-led and organized, making it a great place to learn. Our established nurses are supportive, friendly and possess a wide range of transferable extended skills. We work cohesively and there is no "I" in OUR team - we work alongside each other and together. Therefore we encourage both newly qualified and experienced nurses in applying to join our team.

Successful candidates will be well-supported and you will acquire a broad range of extended skills to compliment your passion for nursing. You will have access to a wealth of knowledge to help you develop your nursing career - ranging from consultants, specialist doctors and specialist nurses. We want to invest in YOU. In return, SDEC asks that you are positive, enthusiastic and passionate in delivering the 6C's of nursing.
