Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, enthusiastic and motivated Advanced Health Care Assistant to join our dynamic team which is currently working to provide care for patients that attend our Emergency Care Centre.

The role is challenging and demanding and you will require a flexible and proactive approach to develop your existing skills in a new environment. Collaborative working is essential between patients, families and all members of the multidisciplinary team and therefore requires excellent communication skills.

After a full induction programme you will be working with guidance from our friendly and supportive team who have a great deal of experience to share. The post provides opportunities for training and development to further advance our skills and career.

Main duties of the job

The Advanced Health Care Assistant (AHCA) is a member of Emergency Care nursing team who undertakes duties in relation to patient care and nursing team administration, in the Emergency Care setting.

o The AHCA will carry out delegated work in accordance with the vocational competencies detailed within the National Qualification Framework (NQF) at Level 3 and also in line with local policyand guidelines.o Duties will be assigned by and carried out under the direct or indirect supervision of a Registered Nurse, according to the individual patient care plan/pathway. Duties include discussion andreporting of any changes in the patient's condition to the registered nurse on a daily basis.o Where additional skills training is identified as required by the job description, the post holder will not undertake those duties until training has been undertaken (except as part of the supervised learning experience).o To be an effective member of the team to which the post holder is attached.o To carry out delegated administrative tasks within the team.o Duties within this job description will be delegated from a registered nurse, and will be dependent upon the Specialism of the team.o The Trust is committed to supporting staff to gain the necessary skills and qualifications to be able to fulfill their job role.
