Job summary
The post-holder will work within the Gastroenterology team providing medical cover on a dedicated Gastro/Hepatology ward, in conjunction with another SHO and the consultant who provides cover to the ward. Participation in out-of-hours-work and weekend ward rounds is required as part of this post. The post-holder will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the patients on the ward, the majority of whom will have had a period on another hospital ward prior to transfer to Gastro / Specialised Medicine. The consultant facilitates a morning Board Round with a requirement to work towards prompt discharges, aiming for Home before Lunch.
Main duties of the job
To observe the Trust's agreed policies and procedures, in particular in relation to managing staff, and to follow the Trust's Standing Orders and Standing Financial Instructions. These policies and procedures have been drawn up in consultation with the profession on clinical matters.
