Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to expand the gynae-oncology nurse practitioner team at UHNM.The aim of this post is to develop a trainee ANP into an expert practitioner who will be fundamental in the introduction of clinical triaging for a new suspected ovarian cancer which would help to streamline the pathway, allowing patients contact in a more timely fashion and less clinic visits.
Main duties of the job
The role includes faster assessment of patients referred for suspected ovarian cancer Requesting of additional investigations in clinically indicated patients including blood tests, Ultrasound, CT scan or MRI Early detection of patients who need MDT discussion with ANP having direct contact with cancer services to add patients on cancer MDT. Completeness of necessary investigations before clinician review.

This is a training post with banding awarded depending on experience and successful completion of relevant courses. Training will consist of health assessment course, medical ultrasound in gynaecology, in house teaching and assessment. Until completion of the above training, the post holder will be in training in preparation for the autonomous practitioner role and their work will be supervised by their nominated mentor and other designated senior medical/nursing staff in the clinical area.
Please be aware, this is a 12 month, fixed term post funded by the West midlands Cancer Alliance.Secondments will be considered.
