We are looking for a Paediatric Dietetic Assistant to join our team working alongside our paediatric dietitians and the wider dietetic team.
This role Supports the work of paediatric dietitians in a range of in-patient acute settings and community locations which may include children's outpatient areas, special school clinics, telephone reviews and the patient's own home. This may include reviewing established patients who are undergoing forms of enteral feeding, those on special diets and nutritional supplements and help in getting weights using hoist equipment/weighing equipment. Visiting schools to weigh, measure and record accurate anthropometric data for children/young people and analysis of food diary/feeds using appropriate software in advance of dietetic consultation.
Main duties of the job
The post holder has a key role in the organisation of home enteral feeding provision, this includes setting patients up with the contractor and answering queries from patients, health care professionals and the industry to ensure that patients receive a timely and appropriate service. You will work to support our Home Enteral feeding dietitians This includes communication to GPs for non-urgent and urgent feed requests, ensuring that actions are documented in patient clinical electronic records in accordance with departmental standards.
The post holder supports home enteral feeding dietitians with monitoring waiting lists, arranging appointments and updating team diary. Is responsible for adding these appointments and clinic outcomes to hospital patient information systems.
- Circulation of product updates/development opportunities to the team and supporting service value for money in use of feeding ancillaries/products.

Update electronic growth charts and anthropometric data
Co-ordinate outpatient room bookings and manage short notice appointment cancellations or re-scheduling in response to clinic changes.
Prepare and send correspondence to GPs, health visitors, school nurses and families including holiday and school related letters, weight requests on behalf of the managing dietitian.
Circulate supportive and educational materials to families via post/email on behalf of the Paediatric Dietetic Team.
Arrange delivery of nutritional supplements and feeds via manufacturer sample service on behalf of managing Paediatric Dietitian
Assist in data collection of dietetic referral coding process ensuring referrals database for internal and external referrals is kept up to date.
Maintain monthly statistics on patient contacts and submit required reports.
