Job Title: Urology Advanced nurse Practitioner (ACP) Managerially accountable to: Lead Urology / Advanced Nurse Practitioner Advanced Nurse Practitioner.
The role offers the opportunity to join a effective , proactive urology team of specialist nurses that values the multidisciplinary skill mix and all talents that exist within. This Role is designed to enabled specialist urological knowledge and skills related to both benign and cancer patient pathways to influence and enhance urological patient outcomes. Our focus is on advanced levels of communication, fostering collaboration and demonstrating accountability. Forward thinking urology practitioners working at an advanced level are leaders and innovators, using their expertise and broad knowledge to find modern, sustainable and technological solutions to overcome challenges that help transform services. Manage complete episodes of person-centred, complex care optimising peoples experiences and outcomes.
Contribute to the development of care pathways
Coordinate, delegate and supervise the wider multidisciplinary team
Conduct data analysis/reflection to enable services to be audited with the outcomes informing policy and practice
Participate within departmental clinical reflection
Reflect and high-quality research
Main duties of the job
Work collaboratively within a team of Advance and Enhanced specialist urology nurses
Actively involved within the functionality of nursing teams for example off duty managing sickness appraisals.
Triage all Urology New referrals into appropriate Clinic setting
Demonstrate high levels of clinical decision making
Advanced understanding of urological clinical conditions established and unestablished patient pathways.
Facilitate Urology 2ww and None-urgent first point of contact clinics
Facilitate Nurse led face to face and Telephone FU Urology clinics
Innovate and lead urology nurse led ambulatory unit
Develop enhanced skills, for example Flexi cystoscopy removal, ureteric stents, LATP (Prostate biopsy), TULA, Bladder Botox
Utilise urology nursing competency framework with the aim endorse development in self and others
Proactively plan inpatient on-going care needs to facilitate timely transfer into urology nurse led ambulatory service.
Work collaboratively with emergency portals and community service with the aim to avoid acute hospital admissions
Support the development of urological nurse led services.
Support the development of clinical practice through research and education of the multi-disciplinary team
Evaluate care through quality assurance initiatives and assessment of clinical outcomes
Be an expert resource for other healthcare practitioners
Ensure that the highest standards of clinical care are delivered
