Full time including weekend and Bank Holiday commitment (part time will be considered)
Pharmacy Directorate
The Pharmacy Directorate has modern, purpose-built pharmacy departments on both the County and Royal Stoke hospital sites and has close links with Keele University School of Pharmacy. The Pharmacy team is enthusiastic, forward thinking and vibrant. We have a proven track record in re-engineering our services to improve the delivery of high quality, patient focused pharmaceutical care and optimisation of medicines use.
We are looking for a Band 7 Specialist Cancer Pharmacist to join our Pharmacy Cancer Services clinical team at this exciting time. We have introduced technician medicines reconciliation service for all new SACT patients and SACT ACTs at the cancer centres, releasing pharmacist time to develop further clinical skills.
The Cancer Centre at the Royal Stoke site consists of a 40 bedded in-patient ward, a 27 chaired out-patient area, four linear accelerators and an Acute Oncology Service with a dedicated Emergency Admissions Bay. The County Cancer Unit has a nurse led 16 chaired, 4 bedded out-patient day unit. Electronic prescribing is well established across both Paediatric (ChemoCare) and Adult (ARIA) Cancer Services.
Main duties of the job
We are looking to recruit a highly motivated, dynamic, innovative and enthusiastic pharmacist to join an established friendly team of Specialist Clinical Pharmacists and technical staff to support cancer patients. You will be looking to develop your clinical skills in this fast-moving speciality to gain experience and knowledge of specialist treatments. You will follow a training programme in line with The British Oncology Pharmacy Association standards.
As part of the wider Pharmacy Cancer Team based at the satellite pharmacy on the Cancer Centre at the Royal Stoke site you will provide clinical services to the out-patient clinics, in-patient ward, local hospice and clinical trials. There will also be opportunities to work at the County site.
All specialist pharmacists are encouraged to develop their clinical skills to undertake further training to become non-medical prescribers and you will be supported by the wider team. A number of Pharmacists currently have allocated prescribing clinics across both Oncology and Haematology and we are looking to expand this.
