Applications are invited for the post of Locum Consultant in Urology at UHNM for 12 months.
This is a Locum full time post in Urology and you will work together in conjunction with 10 Urology Consultant Colleagues; the post holder will provide a comprehensive Urological service to UHNM.
The Urology department sits within the directorate of Urology and General Surgery and is part of a Major Trauma Centre providing an adult and paediatric Urological service that serves the population of Staffordshire, Shropshire, South Cheshire and North Wales.
The Directorate has a reputation for being very busy and committed to providing a comprehensive service. We are a dynamic unit which has undergone development in recent years, within the department we have a well-established sub-specialisation and we are looking for someone who is willing to engage and our strong team ethos. These posts will work on a 6 week rolling programme which will support the recovery programme and increase capacity and reduce loss of capacity on a rolling basis.
Main duties of the job
The department provides comprehensive care for a wide range of benign and malignant condition and you will take responsibility for the inpatient and outpatient care of urology patients.
You will be required to participate in the education and training of medical students, junior doctors, nursing and other professionals allied to medicine. You may be involved in the supervision and teaching of medical students attached to the department. With the development of the Keele Medical School, excellent opportunities exist for greater involvement in teaching in many different areas of the undergraduate curriculum.
You will participate in medical audit, the Trust's Clinical Governance processes and in CPD.
You will be expected to take an appropriate share in the management and administrative workload of the Department. All Consultants are involved in planning and developing the service.
You will be fully registered within the GMC and ideally have a CCT in Urology or be within 6 months of award of CCT at the time of interview.
