Band 6 Practice Development Nurse
Are you an experienced Band 6 Critical Care Nurse who has a desire to educate, motivate and inspire others? If the answer is yes, then please apply for the role of 'Practice Development Nurse' working within Critical Care and Surgical Special Care.
The successful candidate will be part of a team who are fully integrated into the multi-disciplinary workforce to ensure everyone has the clinical skills, knowledge and experience to deliver gold standard nursing care.
The successful candidate will be an expert critical care nurse who, through innovation and creative license, will deliver the education strategy and continuously evaluate staff competence ensuring that development is aligned to the Critical care vision.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will lead on the implementation of education, development plans, induction, mentoring and preceptorship and the on going professional development of all critical care staff. The post holder will assist in the delivery of robust programmes of education, and participate in audit to evaluate effectiveness and maintain standards of nursing care. The Practice Development Nurse will act as a credible and professional role model, empowering staff to develop both personally and professionally to achieve their maximum potential.
The Practice Development Nurse will participate in innovation and evidence based nursing practice through professional leadership and supporting the clinical team.
Work closely with the Senior Clinical Staff Nurses for Quality to support and educate the clinical team.

Facilitate communication, which results in clear responsibilities being identified within the multi- professional team.
There is a requirement to exchange verbal and written information with the patients, staff and carers requiring tact and diplomacy. The post holder needs to ensure that all barriers to understanding are overcome by using strategies to meet individual need.
Provided detailed information regarding up-to-date research and processes regarding care, liaising with the critical care research team.
Will liaise with clinical experts in aspects of critical care to ensure clinical practice reflects current trends.
Communicate with multi discipline's and promote good relationships between the Directorate, other wards, departments and the Critical Care Network
It is expected that ALL employees of the Trust will take part in the appraisal process each year with the first appraisal taking place within the first 6 months form appointment.
