Job summary

This post is suitable for a New Graduate Therapeutic Radiographer

  • To work as a member of the Therapeutic Radiography team rotating through all sections of the department, under the supervision of the section leader.
  • To deliver a high quality, accurate radiotherapy service, which is responsive to the social and healthcare needs of the individual patient.
  • To supervise students.

Main duties of the job

  • To ensure communication between the Radiotherapy Radiographic team and other health care professionals.
  • Communicates highly sensitive and complicated information, concerning treatment management to the patient, carers and other health care professionals, in an empathetic and reassuring manner.
  • To exercise judgement in dealing with sensitive, personal and professional issues using skills of persuasion, motivation, training, empathy and reassurance.
  • To ensure communication channels are used appropriately to facilitate a flow of information both within the department and between other departments within the Trust, and all relevant stakeholders.
  • The post holder will liaise with chemotherapy departments, both outpatient and inpatient - for this Trust and Trusts within which peripheral clinics are held.
  • To help the team in ensuring that the physical, mental and social welfare of all patients is constantly monitored and any change in condition is reported to the supervising Oncologist or appropriate Health Care Professional.
  • To report and record any faults or errors to the appropriate staff immediately.
  • To ensure that a professional and welcoming atmosphere is maintained in the department.
  • To maintain a high professional standard of patient care through the interpretation of treatment plans and the accurate delivery of treatment techniques using analytical, judgement, communication and organisational skills to a high standard.
