Job summary
This post seeks to support our Skin and microvascular pillars through the appointment of a Plastic Surgery Consultant which will make a 9 Plastic Consultant team to strengthen the service.
Main duties of the job
Most plastic surgery outpatient clinics take place in the Skin Unit in conjunction with Dermatology.
The successful applicant will be part of a specialised Skin MDT and breast MDT.
The department is involved in a number of clinical trials both regional and national skin cancer patients
UHNM is designated major trauma centre and we are expanding to two days combined Orthoplastic trauma list
The Job plans are subject to change on appointment and an ability to be flexible is essential
The surgeon will participate in the outpatients prior to surgery, and in all aspects of the operative care of the patients
The successful applicant will take part in a future on call rota 1.7 covering inpatients and emergency referrals from GPs and Emergency Department. It is expected the individual will be available to return to the hospital if needed
The job plan includes sessions at County hospital. Currently the operating at County is on day case only, but the Directorate are working with Theatre to expand the scope of this.
At present if for any reason an inpatient stay is required as a result of a day-care procedure, the patient will be transferred to the inpatient unit at Royal Stoke
You will be expected to work with local managers and professional colleagues in the efficient running of services and will share with consultant colleagues in the medical contribution to management
