Job summary

We are looking to recruit an experienced Clinical Audit and Effectiveness Facilitator to join a well-established Quality, Safety and Compliance Team. The main role will be to support the Trust in the facilitation of a wide range of national and local clinical audit activity.

The post holder will work closely with staff at all levels across the Trust, including senior consultants, managers, and divisional teams to support the delivery of the clinical audit programme and to seek assurance that the Trust, is meeting its obligations with respect to national clinical audit programmes and other external requirements. They will identify opportunities for improvement within audit projects and internal processes and will work to support clinical teams and the clinical audit team to implement those improvements.

Main duties of the job

To support the Head of Clinical Effectiveness in the implementation of the clinical audit policy and strategy through the design and completion of effective clinical audit projects.

To support the Head of Clinical Effectiveness in the completion of the Trust annual clinical audit programmes through timely and effective completion of their individual annual programme of activity

To support the Head of Clinical Effectiveness in the co-ordination of the effectiveness agenda by ensuring that all relevant national audits, confidential enquiries and external publications are processed and reviewed in line with departmental procedure.

Responsible for ensuring that clinical audit projects are designed in line with the clinical audit policy and are effective by ensuring that all aspects of the clinical audit cycle are completed.

To assist the Head of Clinical Effectiveness, in the promotion of clinical audit within the Trust.

To support the Head of Clinical Effectiveness in the delivery of clinical audit training both internally to the Trust and to external delegates.

To promote clinical the audit policy throughout the Trust

Experience in clinical audit or a related field. Knowledge and practical experience of all stages of the audit cycle.

To demonstrate knowledge of the compliance agenda, including the significance of CQC, Confidential Enquiries and all external accreditations and assessments relevant to the Trust

To communicate and liaise with all staff groups at all levels within UHNM on all aspects of the audit cycle, ensuring that all necessary information is correctly gathered and presented in a comprehensible and timely manner.

The post holder will need excellent communication skills both written and oral. He/she will assist in the provision and interpretation of audit data and will be required to communicate this clearly and accurately to staff at all levels within the Trust.

To process and analyse collected audit data using computerised statistical packages.

To develop robust action plans in conjunction with the audit leads/ward teams following audit findings to ensure that improvements in compliance are facilitated.

To assist the Head of Clinical Effectiveness in the co-ordination and completion of the action plan database by liaising with clinical teams responsible for audit actions to gather updates and to escalate non completion where required.

To provide both internal and external clinical audit training.

To facititate the completion of clinical audit projects undertaken in response to Divisional / Directorate clinical effectiveness priorities.

To provide advice and guidance to staff on clinical audit who are undertaking their own audit projects.

To support the Head of Clinical Effectiveness in the delivery of the national audit programme through liaising with clinicians to provide updates on the progress of the national audits within their individual programme of activity.

To support the Head of Clinical Effectiveness ensure that all national audits, confidential enquiries and external publications are received locally and their subsequent action plans are reviewed by the Trust.

Required to ensure that patient questionnaires are distributed appropriately and in accordance with Trust policy.

Responsible for organising and maintaining computerised project records.
