Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced medical secretary to join our team as a Cardiology Medical Support Secretary within the Heart Centre.
You will work alongside the existing administrative team to provide comprehensive and efficient secretarial support.
You will need to be a highly motivated and flexible team player with excellent organisational and communication skills. The ability to work under pressure and effectively prioritise your own workload is essential. We are looking for a secretary with high standards and an eye for detail. You must have the ability to multi-task and work in a busy, ever changing environment.
This position is 18.75, working Mon-Wed.
Medical Secretarial experience would be desirable, be able to work on your own initiative with well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.
Possession of RSA stage III typing / word processing (or equivalent), audio transcription, GCSE English (Grade C or above) or equivalent is essential. Possession of an AMSPAR Diploma or equivalent would be a distinct advantage
An understanding of the EPR computer system is desirable but not essential, as full training will be given.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will need to demonstrate good communication skills, flexibility, reliability and have an organised approach to work. Working as part of a team of Medical Secretaries, you will support with the management of waiting lists, typing of clinical letters, theatre scheduling, clinic utilisation along with daily office duties as required by the clinical team.
The post holder will have skills in all areas of administrative functions to enable them to support the patient pathway.
The post will be based at Royal Stoke University Hospital but may require cross site working and there may be a need for the post holder to travel between Royal Stoke University Hospital (Stoke-on-Trent) and the County Hospital (Stafford) sites.
