Job summary

This is a fantastic opportunity to earn while you learn, combining training with hands on experience inside a busy communications department.

Working alongside a team of communications professionals, you will be exposed to media relations, internal communications, design and print, social media an digital communications and will provide support to colleagues while learning on the job. We are looking for individuals with enthusiasm and willingness to learn. You will be a good communicator and able to engage with staff at all levels. You will be organised and full of ideas.

The post holder will assist and support the Communication Team as required but specifically in the provision of the Targeted Lung Health Check programme and development of a new Community Diagnostic Centre.

Training will be provided by an accredited training provider against a certified apprenticeship standard.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Report to and support the Communications and Engagement Specialist and the wider communications team in the delivery of all communications.

Support the external and internal functions within the team and specifically communications engagement function surrounding the Targeted Lung Health programme and development of the Community Diagnostic Centre.

Maintain the photo library, distribution lists and contact databases.

Maintenance of generic communications inboxes and responding to correspondence arriving by email (or forwarding to right person in the communications team for a response) and logging and tracking responses.

Support the development and collation of communications resources

Monitor media in local and national press and provide summaries to the wider team.

Maintain media and stakeholder databases

Undertake action notes at meetings and tracking of actions.

Answer the departmental telephone in a professional and courteous manner, directing callers to the most appropriate staff member and taking messages comprehensively

Act as a guardian for the NHS and Trust brand guidelines, implementing the guidelines consistently across your work. Contribute to the development of the Trusts brand as required.

Capture imagery/video and log filming and photography consent documentation in line with GDPR requirements and Trust policies for use in press and social media.

Develop and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, at all times demonstrating awareness and sensitivity.

Maintain and enhance your own personal and professional skills and competences, undertake the training required to complete your apprenticeship and your personal development plan.

Undertake any other duties which might reasonably be required, commensurate with the post.

The role will require a significant amount of desk-based work and also a frequent requirement to attend meetings/photo shoots
