Job summary
An exciting opportunity has become available in the role of Advanced Specialist Pharmacist for Respiratory Medicine at the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust. The successful candidate will primarily be based at the Royal Stoke site, working as part of our growing Medicine team of pharmacists and technicians delivering a high-quality daily clinical service to our respiratory wards, as well as all the associated out-patient services including interstitial lung disease, severe asthma and respiratory homecare. The post holder will work closely with the wider multi-disciplinary team of clinicians, nursing staff and directorate management working across the Specialised Medicine Directorate. There may also be opportunity in the future, as there has been in the past, to upskill in pharmacist-led asthma clinics.
To be considered you will be an experienced clinical pharmacist, able to demonstrate ability in delivering high quality evidence-based, cost-effective pharmaceutical care for our patients. In addition, the ability to provide financial and risk management support. We are looking for someone who has an enthusiasm for this specialism and the ability to work amongst a large team of clinicians and specialist nurses.
Main duties of the job
Utilise expert pharmaceutical knowledge to manage acutely ill patients in the respiratory setting.
To utilise the skill of / work towards being an active independent prescriber.
Provide specialist prescriber support for complex and expanding medicine regimes e.g. high-cost drugs used within severe asthma.
Support flow with efficient discharge medication supply routes.
As with all our Advanced Pharmacist posts, this role has the responsibility of line managing junior staff and leading on their development during their respiratory rotations.

Essential
- Masters degree in Pharmacy (MPharm) or equivalent
- Registered with General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
- Postgraduate Clinical Pharmacy Diploma / MSc or equivalent Qualification
- Postgraduate Clinical Pharmacy Certificate and working towards the completion of the Diploma
- Independent Prescriber with appropriate annotation on GPhC register or willing to undertake appropriate training to become an active independent prescriber
- Commitment and evidence of professional updating and mandatory continuing professional development portfolio
Desirable
