Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Gastroenterology department in this newly created post which will work in conjunction with the 15 Gastroenterology Consultant colleagues, you will provide a comprehensive Service to the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust (UHNM), specifically hepatology but with some general gastro support.

The department has an interest in Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Hepatology, Nutrition, Capsule Endoscopy and Functional Disease. We offer JAG accredited services across both sites which are fully equipped offering advanced GI endoscopic techniques.

Main duties of the job

The Gastroenterology Department is the regional centre for Upper GI Cancer, including Hepatobiliary and Colorectal Cancer, as well as non-transplant Hepatology. The Department consists of 1 Gastroenterology Ward with 35 inpatient beds and there are 2 JAG accredited Endoscopy departments across Royal Stoke and County sites comprising of 10 scoping rooms in total, offering a range of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy. The successful postholder will be expected to deliver a comprehensive outpatient service, providing diagnosis and treatment of patients with gastroenterological illnesses.

  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
