Job summary
An exciting opportunity to join a team of 48 WTE Consultant Radiologists, including 2 substantive Consultants with sub-specialty interest in Genito-urinary (GU) imaging and 6 substantive consultants with sub-specialty interest in Gastro-intestinal (GI) imaging. This is a Consultant post offering a joint specialisation in Urological and GI radiology.
At UHNM the cross sectional radiologists work closely with their colleagues in the Surgical and Medical Directorate through cancer MDT meetings and joint clinico-radiological conferences.
Main duties of the job
In GI: Lower GI, Hepato-pancreato-biliary, Oesophago-gastric, IBD, and benign GI MDT's are established, with cover in rotation between all relevant radiologists. Approximately 70 cases are discussed at each MDT meeting from a network covering Mid Cheshire, Shrewsbury and Telford and Royal Wolverhampton Trust.
In Urology: Oncology and benign MDTs are established, that also includes an adrenal/endocrine MDT, with cover in rotation between all relevant radiologists. The Urology Cancer MDT also links, partly with Shrewsbury and Telford Hospitals NHS Trust to discuss patients.
As well as cold reporting sessions specific to GI and Urology work, the applicant would be expected to support the acute imaging service with a weekly acute CT reporting session.
The successful candidate would be expected to support an acute image guided intervention service (shared with 6 other consultant colleagues) and also to contribute to delivering in-patient and out-patient speciality-specific interventional procedures (biopsies, aspirations, drainages).
About us
The radiology department has a robust radiology registrar teaching program under the West Midlands Deanery Radiology Training. Our training programme currently supports 37 radiology registrars and the successful applicant would be expected to contribute to registrar teaching and training. The on call services are well supported by radiology trainees 24/7. There is also a radiology curriculum in the School of Medicine, Keele University, with medical students rotating through the department. A recent HEE grant funded Stoke as a CTC training centre of excellence for Radiographers from across the Midlands.
We are a top ranked trauma unit and a Consultant job here will provide great exposure to acute body radiology imaging.
