Job summary
To provide senior medical leadership in the Acute Medicine Department, with responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of all categories of patients and the proper functioning of the Department.
The post holder will gain a wide range of experience in all aspects of work within the Acute Medicine Department. They will be expected to work as a middle grade doctor covering all clinical areas of the Department. There will be a Consultant available for advice/supervision at all times. During this time the post holder will work primarily in the Acute Medical Unit (AMU) and in the Ambulatory units (AEC / MRU) as well as providing support as needed on the Short Stay Unit. A tailored rotation will also include work on both sites of the Trust offering experience in a District General Hospital Environment at County Hospital and in addition to the tertiary centre environment offered by the Royal Stoke University Hospital.
Participation in out of hours / on call work is expected on a pro-rota basis and will be re numerated according to the terms and conditions set out in this contract.
There will be a Consultant available for advice/supervision at all times.
Supporting professional activities: There is time specifically set aside for academic work education, audit and management development - this will form 1 session per week.
