Job summary
Band 7 Database Administrator 8months fixed term contract to the 31st March 2025
The post holder will develop and maintain multiple MS databases to support the development of the Trusts in-house developed systems, as well as support the business critical patient care systems for the organisation, that are key to maintaining the continuity of the Trust's business and operational processes. The role will play a key part in designing and creating innovative database design with modern tools and techniques to support efficient and effective business processes for our clinical and non-clinical teams.
The successful candidate will also liaise with third party suppliers and staff across all levels of the Trust in the planning, design and development of highly complex database system solutions.
Main duties of the job
- To create and manage multiple databases including table management, procedures, views, indexes and triggers
- Troubleshooting procedural and performance related issues
- Business as usual - Dealing with data related user help desk calls.
- General house keeps and performance monitoring
- Ongoing performance and optimisation improvements
- Creating relational database designs and development from user requirements.
- Creating fully optimised stored procedures using T-SQL
- Creating low level and high level database design documentation
- Managing database role based access (RBAC)
- Create and maintain existing SQL jobs
- Create and maintain backups

- Educated to Degree in a computer related discipline, or equivalent work experience
Desirable
- Evidence of continuing professional development, either academic (e.g. MSc) or in an industry standard qualification (e.g. MSCD).

- A logical approach to investigating, analysing and resolving data and programming problems.
- Communication of highly complex information to users at all levels internal to the organisation and with external clients, suppliers and vendors.
