Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, hardworking dietitian with an interest in paediatrics to join the Paediatric Team at Staffordshire Children's Hospital (part of the University Hospital of North Midland's Trust). This is a Band 6 paediatric post; however, we would be happy to consider applications from those who have started their Paediatric Dietetic career and looking for further experience and development within a specialist centre, and have acute dietetic experience.

We are a friendly, supportive team providing a comprehensive Paediatric dietetic service within UHNM at both sites and across North Staffordshire. There are currently 11 members of the team including our dietetic assistant.

An interest in paediatrics and experience working as a dietitian in any acute setting is essential. We will value your ability to use your initiative and you will have a flexible approach, excellent communication and time management skills and the ability to work independently, liaising effectively with a wide range of staff and patients and the public.

For more information or to arrange an informal visit, please call stephanie France, Paediatric Dietetic Team Lead on 01782 676030 or e mail: stephanie.france @uhnm.nhs.uk

Main duties of the job

Along with other members of the team, you would provide specialist dietetic advice to inpatients and outpatients within the hospital and community settings. The post holder will provide support to the senior ward dietitian currently 3 days per week, a face-to-face clinic and a telephone clinic each week. You will provide support to the HEF dietitian service for patients on initial discharge home and support the gastroenterology dietitians for some inpatient and outpatient reviews. The caseload across the Trust is a varied and interesting one, covering critical care, diabetes, gastroenterology, eating disorders, neonates, cystic fibrosis, and nutrition support; often working as part of multidisciplinary teams. There is also a substantial caseload of home enteral nutrition patients. The post-holder will also have the opportunity to conduct audits, provide training to patients, carers and other community staff, and contribute to service development.
