We have a fantastic opportunity to join our fast evolving midwifery leadership team as the Deputy Director of Midwifery for Governance. This is a part-time role due to internal secondment and initially is for 11 months. Experience is required for this senior and pivotal role within our Maternity, Neonatal and Gynaecology team.

Main duties of the job

We are a large and fast paced maternity service, we work in partnership withwomen, families and external stakeholders to deliver innovative care and we strive to deliver exceptional care at all times. Central to our service are safety and a positive patient experience. We work closely with our LMNS to progress transformation of maternity services with the aim of continuous improvements inoutcomes for mothers and babies.

The service provides high quality, evidence based care to around 6500 women and babies per year in Stoke on Trent and Staffordshire. Our maternity unit comprises of a Consultant led unit, with Midwife Birth Centre and level 3 NNU. At the County site, the women diagnostic centre also houses the Freestanding Midwife Birth Unit plus day care services for maternity and gynaecology.

Support the Director of Midwifery in the development and implementation of the governance strategy for maternity services across a wide range of responsibilities. Ensure the smooth and effective running of the department. Have general oversight of the daily running of the maternity Department and the Quality and Risk Manager and team. The post holder will be responsible and accountable for the provision of safe high quality Maternity Services. Responsible for and support lead for the governance agenda across maternity, obstetrics and gynaecology (O&G).

In conjunction with the Director of Midwifery the post holder will ensure the effective implementation of a comprehensive and systematic approach to governance across O&G.

The post holder will provide professional leadership and management to the Quality and Risk Team, specialist midwives and the Midwifery Leadership Team.

The post holder will support the Director of Midwifery in ensuring that all aspects of risks are robustly and effectively managed in the interest of women's safety.
