Job summary

We are looking for an outstanding Consultant Diagnostic Neuro Radiologist with an interest in Neuroradiology and Head and Neck imaging, wishing to enhance a team of 7 Neuro-radiologists at a Level 1 Trauma Hospital. Expertise in ENT imaging is desirable but not essential. You will support the network of regional services, and contribute to the expanding diagnostic neuroradiology workload. This is within a department 48wte Consultant Radiologists.

The Imaging Department at UHNM is a busy department providing both general and specialist services in diagnostic and interventional imaging. It is a large department which carries out over 700,000 examinations every year.

Main duties of the job

This is a full time Neuroradiology post which, in conjunction with 7 other Consultant Neuroradiology colleagues, will provide a comprehensive neuroradiology and head and neck service to the University Hospital of North Midlands NHS Trust

At UHNM the Neuro-radiologists work closely with their colleagues in Head and Neck, Neurosurgery, Neurosciences and Oncology through cancer MDTs and joint clinico-radiological conferences.

The post holder will contribute to the provision of a first-class service supporting - Head and Neck, ENT, Neurosurgery, Spinal Surgery, Neurology , Stroke team and Oncology.

The on-call rota is currently 1 in 7. Scheduling of sessions is by mutual agreement. Opportunities exist for flexible working, extended working day and weekend working and additional PA's.

We are one of the top ranked trauma unit's in the country and the successful applicant will have excellent exposure to trauma, post-surgical and diagnostic imaging.

About us

The University Hospital is the main teaching hospital for the Keele University Undergraduate Medical School and there are close ties with the University of Keele and Staffordshire University.

UHNM is a standalone training scheme (a part of West Midlands School of Radiology). There is a high level of skill-mix within the department and teaching and training of radiographers and junior radiologists is at the forefront. Every year, there are 7 junior radiologists joining the department for their training. We currently have 37 trainees at all levels and new training facilities. There are many opportunities provided by working in an Acute Teaching Hospital with a strong commitment to clinical excellence, teaching and research, and a high quality patient experience.

There are extensive academic opportunities and involvement in research is encouraged. A specialised research team within the department will help support research, studies and collaboration with other centres and the industry.

  • Full registration with the GMC
