Job summary

At University Hospitals of North Midlands an exciting opportunity has arisen to join our professional and progressive team of Clinical Coders. We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals with excellent attention to detail and communication skills. You should be able to organise your own workload but also work as part of the team to deliver timely and accurate coded data to meet Trust deadlines.

This post is for 2 Trainee Clinical Coders starting on a band 3 salary progressing to band 4 on successful completion of our internal Trainee Programme. You will be office-based initially with the possibility of transitioning to hybrid working following successful completion of initial training.

These posts may be based at either Royal Stoke or County Hospital, depending on candidates location

Main duties of the job

The main duties of the role will be to abstract, analyse and translate patient diagnoses and operative procedures, whilst applying national coding standards and local coding policies to assign codes to all inpatient episodes, in order to meet the Trust's monthly deadlines.

The successful candidates will be responsible for managing their monthly workload to meet tight deadlines, and will be required to code a variety of specialties. As a Trainee Clinical Coder it is compulsory to complete the National Clinical Coding Standards Course, following this you will be supported through our in-house training programme for trainee coders.
