Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Programme Management Officer for a Project Support Manager due to the current post holder being on a secondment. This post is for 18 months and will provide a development opportunity with exposure to various projects and programmes. If you keen to learn with a passion in project work within an Acute Hospital Trust, then this could be the job for you.

The UHNM Programme Management Office oversee the development, monitoring and implementation of the Trusts annual Cost Improvement Programme and other improvement programmes such as Planned Care, Non-Elective, Community Diagnostic Centre implementation and many other key change projects . Under the direction of the Assistant Programme Manager, the post-holder will provide and co-ordinate an efficient and comprehensive project management support service supporting the development and delivery of various projects. The successful candidate will support project leads across the Trust providing project planning, resourcing, monitoring and delivery against key milestones and key performance objectives.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will have a proactive approach to their work and will have experience of working independently and as part of a busy team. Experience in supporting and managing projects as well as strong organisational and IT skills are an essential part of this role.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a busy, complex and changing environment. They will have a good eye for detail, excellent interpersonal and communications skills.   • Relevant degree or equivalent level qualification
  • Good understanding of the basic principles of project management

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working, for a minimum of 12 months, in a busy project role / team / environment on a complex change project
  • Experience of providing excellent support to Managers for the production of reports, business papers and presentations.
  • Significant experience of working in a high level administrative position and project management

Desirable

  • Experience of working in the NHS (ideally in an acute setting)
  • Experience of providing project support to organisational change programmes

Skills

Essential

  • Intermediate/Advanced IT skills and experience using word, excel, power point, outlook. Skills in Excel inparticular are essential
  • Excellent verbal and written comunication skills
  • Analytical skills to compare and assess options to resolve potential project failure/slippage as well as reviewing own work and project.
  • Communication skills to persuade and motivate others of the importance of the project, and to encourage action on the part of others who may have competing priorities.
  • Work under pressure, prioritise workload and work to deadlines
