Job summary

Band 8a Project Manager Fixed term 12 months

The post holder will support, monitor and manage a range of projects including the IT, network and infrastructure requirements of the new Community Diagnostic Centre for IM&T using Prince 2 methodology to ensure that a standard project management approach is built into all aspects of the project work. This post involves working across the IM&T directorate and liaising with various clinical, operational and administrative teams across all the Divisions at the Trust, supporting the delivery of their IM&T strategies.

The post holder will be responsible for overseeing the IT workstreams management and monitoring of progress of the new Community Diagnostic Centre ensuring that progress is in line with the overall programme highlighting variances, identifying key milestones and critical path events and monitor progress against the plan. They will ensure that the projects are undertaken and that interdependencies are identified and that delivery is monitored and reported on to the Head/Deputy Head of Service Development so that the overall objectives of the projects are met to time and budget.

The post holder will produce and present all project documentation including PIDs, Project Plans, Implementation Plans, Milestone Plans, Highlight Reports and any other documentation as required by the Head/Deputy Head of Service Development or Project Boards/Steering Groups and will assimilate a wide range of complex and sensitive information.

Main duties of the job

  • Use expert knowledge of project methodologies to work independently supporting internal and external teams to effectively prioritise and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Use agreed project management methodology to plan and implement project deliverables, ensuring that targets and milestones are met and delivered on time.
  • Using agreed project management methodology to define, document and execute projects, actively leading in all stages of the project. Creating project plans, tracking activity against project plans, assessing and managing all issues and risks, and producing regular reports to monitor project progress and be a key contributor of the progress reports for project boards/steering groups.
  • To plan and manage multiple projects as delegated by the Head of Service Delivery.
  • To ensure critical dependencies are fully identified during planning to ensure that other key projects are appraised. Managing multiple project phases and projects at any one time
  • To formulate and design key plans on all elements of projects for delivery on time and within budget tolerances, ensuring a smooth transition to new systems, as applicable, and to liaise with other Divisions within Trust, managing expectations for projects.
  • Required to work autonomously, but can seek advice when necessary
  • Responsible for the direct line management and work allocation of project managers and project support managers.
