Job summary
Over the last few years UHNM has been working actively towards our vision through a variety of improvement initiatives including starting the journey to implementing Operational Excellence our quality improvement methodology at the heart of our transformation journey that will spearhead the work towards our vision. This programme is called Improving Together. It is a multi-year journey to fundamentally change the culture and ways of working at UHNM. We are working to adopt and sustain a culture of continuous improvement which is led by our people at the front line and supported by a performance management system that focuses on developing our staff.
At the centre of this journey stands the Quality Improvement Academy - a multi-disciplinary team who are passionate about continuous improvement in healthcare. This team has developed the improvement capability within the Trust, to provide training and coaching to staff (from the front line to the Executive team). This team within UHNM is led by the Assistant Director of Quality Improvement along with a supporting core team consisting of a Senior Improvement Practitioner, 4 Improvement Practitioners and an Assistant QI Practitioner. In addition to the core team, two Consultants (these roles) join the team on a part-time basis to support links with the Trust's medical communities, and the team are supported by a dedicated administrator.
Main duties of the job
The purpose of this role is to be the medical representative in the Quality Improvement Academy, enabling Quality Improvement to become part of the business as usual for the Trust.
The successful candidates will work to link with education and development programmes which are part of the Improving Together journey, giving support and guidance to the teams or members of staff as they progress their work. They will support the development and completion of Trust (where appropriate), site, divisional, ward and staff based Quality Improvement projects while working as part of the Quality Improvement Academy team. The post holders will be expected to facilitate training on QI methodologies, leading the change required in the medical teams.
