Main duties of the job
BASE SITE IS Macclesfield District General Hospital - This role includes ward round services.
North Midlands and Cheshire Pathology Service provide Phlebotomy services at multiple venues including MACCELSFIELD DISTRICT GENERAL HOSPITAL, KNUTSFORD, CONGLETON, VIN AND ALL DIRECT ACCESS LOCALITIES. The successful applicant will be asked to cover at all service locations, should the business require it.
The post holder is required for the collection of venous blood samples for pathological analysis.
The post holder will be required to work independently and as part of a team when required.
They will be asked to liaise with other health care professionals, clinicians, laboratory staff, patients and/or their representatives, both in person and over the telephone.
The role involves handling biological samples that may contain pathogenic micro-organisms; therefore, ensuring that all procedures are adhered to when undertaking blood sampling according to laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and the policies and procedures of the department, especially in relation to Health & Safety and Quality.
The post holder must be able to support the department in multiple venues, when required.
This is an interesting and important job, previous experience in this field is not essential as full training is given.
