Job summary

An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced part time pharmacist to support our Advanced Specialist Pharmacists in Gastroenterology & in Respiratory, in the delivery of in-patient and out-patient services to these fields over the next 12 months. External funding has been secured to enhance the provision of advanced clinical pharmacist input into the Hepatitis C and Asthma Biologic out-patient services. This fixed term post will provide backfill at ward level for our specialty leads to deliver these specialist out-patient services at the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust.

The successful candidate will also work closely with our clinicians, nursing staff and directorate management team, to ensure the delivery of evidence-based, safe, cost-effective pharmaceutical care to patients treated across our respiratory and gastroenterology wards at the Royal Stoke. You will provide a high quality clinical service, financial and risk management support.

To be considered you will be an experienced clinical pharmacist, able to demonstrate ability in delivering high quality care for patients, support for and development of a team. We are looking for someone who has an enthusiasm for this specialism.

Main duties of the job

Utilise expert pharmaceutical knowledge to manage acutely ill patients in the gastroenterology and respiratory setting.

Work closely with the other Advanced Specialist Pharmacists in Gastroenterology & Respiratory in the delivery of the in--patient and out-patient clinical pharmacy services.

To utilise the skill of / work towards being an independent prescriber (where applicable).

Provide prescriber support for complex medicine regimes e.g. vancomycin, aminophylline infusions, anticoagulation in gastro / hepatic and respiratory disease.

Support flow with efficient discharge medication supply routes.

As with all our Advanced Pharmacist posts, this role has the responsibility of managing junior staff.

Essential
