Job summary
This is a Band 3 two year training role which will automatically lead to a Band 4 substantive Assistant Practitioner position subject to successfully completing the university training course .
To work as part of the MRI team at the University Hospital of North Midlands NHS Trust as an MRI Assistant Practitioner and work in accordance with the corporate objectives.
To participate in all aspects of Magnetic Resonance Imaging including the extended working day , 7 day service on any UHNM managed MRI sites (7am-8pm)
To maintain a high standard of work and strive for continual improvements in radiographic standards and patient care and to provide advice to junior staff /colleagues and Students whilst acting as a role model.
Main duties of the job
To receive MR safety training to ensure you have knowledge of the relevant risks and safety protocols that maintain staff and patient safety
Completion of the MRI Assistant Practitioner Training Manual to ensure knowledge of MRI physics and how these relate to scanning techniques.
Completion of scanning log book and competencies of set non contrast examinations as below:
- Std Head
- Std IAMs
- Std C, T and L Spine
- Whole Spines (including Std, Mets, Cauda Equina, Trauma)
- Std Shoulder
- Std Knee
- Std MSK Hips
- Std MRCP
Once trained to be competent to scan non contrast examinations (as above) with no or minimal supervision if adaptation required
To be compliant with MR safety training and Local Rules to have Cat. A status for Counter signature of safety screening forms
To be proficient in medicines management and be able to check contrast agents with a registered radiographer
You will NOT be able to administer contrast agents
