Job summary
This will be a full time post and will suit someone who is on the specialist register or is aiming to be on the specialist register for Plastic Surgery.
The post will join 7 other colleagues in covering the large geographical area centred around Stoke in providing Plastic Surgery services and care to the local population.
The Plastic Surgery Service sits within the Specialised Surgery Directorate as part of the Surgical Division. The Directorate has a budget of over £11 million and employs approximately 250 staff.
The Clinical Strategy for Plastic Surgery is to build and develop our Acute Plastic service. The four pillars of our Acute Plastic Surgery service are:
- Skin Cancer
- Orthoplastic Trauma
- Head and Neck Cancer
- Reconstruction (Breast)
Main duties of the job
- The successful applicant will do sessions at mainly the Royal Stoke University Hospital but also the County Hospital, Stafford
- There are two specialist inpatient wards (male and female) and a Surgical Daycase and Admissions Unit in close proximity. The department is adjacent to the Centre Treatment Suite which provides capacity for the burns and dressings clinic and local anaesthetic operating lists. Most plastic surgery outpatient clinics take place in the Skin Unit in conjunction with Dermatology.
- The successful applicant will be part of the Breast MDT
- There will be opportunities to lead and develop the breast-plastic service.
- The successful candidate will be a core member of the specialist skin MDT.
- The department is involved in a number of clinical trials both regional and national skin cancer patients
- UHNM is designated major trauma centre and we are expanding to two days combined Orthoplastic trauma lists
