Job summary

The post holder will develop and maintain multiple Microsoft SQLServer databases to support the Trusts infrastructure and the business-critical patient care systems for the organisation that is key to maintaining the continuity of the Trust's business and operational processes.Liaises with third party suppliers and staff across all levels of the Trust in the planning, design anddevelopment of highly complex database system solutions. As well as the continued Administration of all Database systems held within the Service Delivery accountability.Experience with one or more of the following database platforms would be an advantage:Access, Oracle, MySQL, Ingres, Filemaker Pro.

Main duties of the job

  • To create and manage Microsoft SQLServer databases including Table management, procedures, views,o indexes and triggers? Working with database software to find ways to store, organise and manage data? Troubleshooting? Keeping databases up to date? Helping with database design and development? Managing database access? Designing maintenance procedures and putting them into operation? Ensuring that databases meet user requirements? Liaising with programmers, applications/operational staff, IT project managers and otherTechnical staff? Managing database security/integrity and backup procedures? Implementing security measures? Defining objectives through consultation with staff at all levels? Testing and modifying databases to ensure that they operate reliably? Archiving data.

  • Educated to Degree in a computer related discipline, or equivalent work experience
