Job summary

This post offers an excellent on-the-job training opportunity in our customer focused, proactive Supplies and Procurement Department which is responsible for purchasing a comprehensive range of goods and services and delivering an enhanced materials management services to wards and theatres.

Main duties of the job

This role entails a range of supply chain duties that encompasses, raising orders, stock receipting, stock delivery, stock management and stock replenishment. The post involves the use of computerised ordering systems and Microsoft Office Applications e.g. Word, Excel, Access and Outlook.

Candidates should have good interpersonal and customer service skills, a good standard of written and verbal English, good organisational skills and be able to work as an effective team member together with a flexible and self-motivated approach to work.

  • Knowledge of Health & Safety at Work requirements



  • Working knowledge/ Experience of Microsoft office packages including Outlook, Excel and word
  • Experience of stock control & stock control systems


  • Experience and Knowledge of NHS Trust materials management ordering systems, acquired through on the job training.
  • Experience of using purchasing systems
  • Experience of NHS Supply Chain online ordering system

Education & Qualifications


  • Good standard of general education


  • NVQ II in procurement or warehousing
  • 3 GCSE's Grade c or above
  • Other relevant business qualifications in a related subject
