Job responsibilities
To initiate, design and deliver simulation and clinical skills related educational programmes for staff, students and multiagency partners in to ensure that effective evidence-based practice is developed to maximise outcomes for patients. To deliver these virtually, in a classroom or in situ.
To undertake relevant clinical activities to maintain own clinical competency and to support staff in developing clinical practice. To providing on-going evidence of eligibility to practice.
To maintain a professional attitude at all times, role modelling compassionate leadership while developing the role of simulation and clinical skills educator in the best interests of the patients we serve and in accordance with the NMC/HCPC Code of professional conduct.

Professional / Clinical Responsibilities:
In conjunction with learning and development, facilitate learning opportunities to meet the educational and skills development needs of Trust staff and students in relation to simulation and clinical skills, according to individual needs and service requirements.
To work with the simulation and clinical skills lead to develop and implement training opportunities encompassing human factors, practical procedures, low and hi-fidelity simulation and virtually, in a classroom or in-situ.
To work with the clinical skills educators to review, develop and deliver teaching of clinical skills in line with evidence-based practice.
To ensure procedures taught are in accordance with Trust polices and to work with relevant Trust staff to review and participate in the development of relevant policies and procedures, care pathways, protocols and guidelines to ensure up to date evidence-based practice.
To ensure evidence-based practice is utilised at all times to provide high standards of teaching to support high standards of care.
To develop own knowledge of human factors and debriefing and to work with the simulation and clinical skills lead to develop and deliver training relating to human factors and debriefing to others.
To participate in clinical audit research and quality improvement initiatives.
To occasionally perform as an assessor in relevant undergraduate and postgraduate simulation and clinical skills examinations held off site at universities/multiagency partners.
Working alongside the learning and development team, support the development and implementation of the Trusts preceptorship programmes for newly appointed staff.
Contribute to monitoring the quality of teaching provided and adapt teaching based upon feedback received

To establish effective communication and good working relationships with multi professional and multi-agency colleagues within the Trust to support effective service delivery.

To work with the wider learning and development team in a collaborative and cohesive manner to support a coordinated approach to professional development.
Working alongside the simulation and clinical skills lead to ensure that learning from local serious incidents clinical incidents and national patient safety alerts are built into future simulation programmes.
Line management responsibilities
Act as a clinical role model for effective clinical care enabling and facilitating others to take forward initiatives.
To provide clinical supervision and support to staff and carry out personal development reviews of allocated members of staff.
Participation in the development and delivery of induction, training, competencies and mentorship programmes of students and staff as required.
To work alongside the clinical skills manager to support the operational running of the clinical skills team (e.g. Sickness management, return to work interviews etc.).
To participate in the recruitment, selection, and retention of staff.
Maximise opportunities to share good practice and innovations with colleagues by networking and work collaboratively with simulation and clinical education teams both locally and nationally.
To deputise for the clinical skills manager or simulation and clinical skills lead in relevant meetings within the Trust and with local multiagency partners (e.g. universities) as needed.

Utilise all resources efficiently and effectively within the locality.
The post holder will maintain accurate and contemporaneous records, deal with highly sensitive information respecting confidentiality and security at all times in accordance with Trust policies and data protection.
To be involved with and/or support staff in auditing services on clearly identified areas as per Trust audit guidelines.
Working alongside the clinical skills manager to ensure that clinical incidents and national patient safety alerts are reported, actioned and reviewed in a timely manner.
To be responsible for and provide evidence that all mandatory training is undertaken & up to date as per Trust training matrix.
The post holder will be required to use a computer, either stand alone or as part of a networked system and will be responsible for the quality of information. They must fully engage with the IT applications that are necessary for the effective running of the service (e.g. electronic diaries, electronic databases, PowerPoint etc)
Communications and Working Relationships:
To develop and maintain effective communication networks with students and Trust staff who utilise the clinical skills team, to support the enhancement of service delivery.
To develop and maintain an effective and comprehensive communication network within other local simulation and clinical skills teams, universities that commission services and other external agencies as indicated to ensure the best service for students, staff and patients.
Develop an inclusive culture that promotes equality and values diversity when delivering training, adapting delivery to meet the needs of those attending where reasonably practicable.
Work collaboratively with the Infection Prevention & Control Team, moving and handling and other key individuals to ensure that teaching sessions comply with and promote safe practice
