Gastroenterology Consultant

South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust

The closing date is 24 November 2024

Job summary

We are looking to appoint two enthusiastic and dynamic colleagues to join the gastroenterology service at South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidates will be afforded the opportunity to collaborate with and develop the service.

One post requires an emphasis on education, and the other, a more general approach to the service, but any particular special clinical interest could be accommodated (and encouraged) where possible. The trust has an expanding cohort of Inflammatory Bowel Disease patients, therefore, interest in this area would be welcomed, however, as long as this interest fits in with the service needs of the department and complements the interests and expertise of the existing consultants.

Main duties of the job

There is an expectation that the post holders will provide emergency cover and weekend working. Out-of-hours endoscopy is shared equally by the gastroenterologists - becoming 1:8 with these two further appointments currently being advertised . Weekend cover will entail cover of existing in-patients and assistance in the management of acutely unwell patients with gastrointestinal problems.

The successful candidates will be expected to support undergraduate education providing clinical teaching and supervision of medical students from Warwick and Buckingham Medical Schools.
