Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Emergency Department at South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust as we look to expand our team of Specialty Doctors. This is a position for experienced doctors currently working at specialty/registrar level to continue their work and development in Emergency Medicine with the support and guidance of our EM consultants.

The Emergency Department attends over 100,000 patients annually and is nationally competitive in key performance indicators and remains nationally recognised for high patient satisfaction ratings. Therefore, evidencing our commitment to exceptional clinical care and patient experience.

As a Specialty Doctor in Emergency Medicine, you will play a pivotal role in providing and driving high-quality care whilst also supporting junior doctor colleagues to achieve this for all patients. Opportunities will be available to support the learning and development of junior doctors and medical students through the delivery of formal and informal training sessions with support from the ED education faculty.

Main duties of the job

Key duties and responsibilities include:

  • Assessing and initiating treatment on patients in the department.
  • Ensuring that investigations are requested and acted on appropriately.
  • Providing support to medical and non-medical staff in the department.
  • Seeking advice and support from consultants where appropriate.
  • Ensuring appropriate follow-up of patients.
  • Taking responsibility for continuing professional education in accordance with guidelines set out by the appropriate college/faculty/professional body.
  • Working in collaboration with colleagues in developing skills to provide new ways of working across different professions, organisations i.e., community/primary care.
  • Participating in clinical and other service activities with the object of ensuring a high standard of patient care.
