Job summary

The Operating Department at Warwick Hospital are recruiting for a Band 6 Theatre Coordinator.

The Theatre Coordinator will coordinate the operating department's activity, including liaising with all members of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure effective NCEPOD, trauma and elective theatre utilisation. They will also provide administrative support to the operating department and maintain clinical policies and procedures related to perioperative practice.

Main duties of the job

To coordinate the operating department's activity, including liaising with allmembers of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure effective NCEPOD, Trauma and Elective theatre utilisation. The Theatre Coordinator will also provideadministrative support to the operating department and maintain policies andprocedures related to perioperative practice.

Key Result Areas:The Theatre Coordinator will deal with enquiries from a multi-disciplinary team, ensuring effective NCEPOD, trauma and elective theatre utilisation. The Theatre Coordinator will also provide administrative support to the operating department and maintain clinical policies and procedures related to perioperative practice.Main ResponsibilitiesDeal with enquiries and support the operating theatre staff to enable thesmooth running of the operating listsHave responsibility for floor control/theatre reception, under the direction of the Theatre Management/Team Leaders, demonstrating excellent communication skills in order that patient information and list changes are relayed to the appropriate members of the theatre team for elective, NCEPOD and trauma activity.Provide administrative support to the operating department.Maintain policies and procedures related to perioperative practice.Measurable Result Areas:Theatre ReceptionProvide a professional, welcoming approach to all persons eithervisiting or working in the operating department.Provide clinical leadership to all theatre staff.Liaise with all groups of staff to ensure the smooth running of thedepartment.Ensure appropriate staffing levels and skill mix to reflect the changingworkload and to meet the needs of the patient in the perioperative environment.Deal with telephone enquiries, directing them to the most appropriatemembers of the theatre team.Take messages and ensure that they are passed on as appropriate.Deal with list changes and communicate them as appropriate.Co-ordinate the booking of emergency patients, ensuring the correctprocedures are followed.Liaise with ward staff regarding list changes and times for NCEPODpatients.Liaise with other departments, ward staff, company representatives andother hospitals as appropriate.
