Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join an expanding team at South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust. The Gynaecology Outpatient Department offers Post Menopausal Bleeding Clinics, Out-Patient Hysteroscopy and Colposcopy procedures.

The Gynaecology Outpatient Team are looking for a band 6 Trainee Nurse Hysteroscopist to join the team. You will be expected to undertake training to become a Nurse Hysteroscopist and once completed would progress to a Band 7. While undertaking your training you will be involved with Out patient Hysteroscopy within the unit, along with associated activity, and work alongside other members of the team including the medical team and Cancer Nurse Specialists, women and their families to support their journey through the diagnostic pathways within Gynaecology.

Main duties of the job

To undertake appropriate certified training which will enable the achievement of a Nurse Hysteroscopist Qualification.

Contribute towards and liaise with the multi-professional Hysteroscopy/ cancer team in the management of patient caseload, referring on as required.

Manage a patient caseload, providing expert assessment, evaluation and treatment within Hysteroscopy care.

Work as part of our Gynaecology Outpatient Team supporting with the development of the service as required.

Under the supervision of a clinical trainer, commence training as a Nurse Hysteroscopist in accordance with The British Society of Gynaecological Endoscopists (BSGE), Bradford Teaching Hospitals Foundation NHS Trust and University of Bradford regulations.

Contribute towards and liaise with the multi-professional Hysteroscopy/ cancer team in the management of patient caseload, referring on as required.

Manage a patient caseload, providing expert assessment, evaluation and treatment within Hysteroscopy care.

Supporting the Hysteroscopy clinics in accordance with national guidelines and local protocols.

With support, and in collaboration with the Hysteroscopy clinicians, act as an advocate to the patient when relevant and informed during discussions about treatment and management options.

Responsible for ensuring equipment is cleaned stored and maintained.

Ensure a patient-focused, multi-professional approach to care in collaboration with patients, carers, healthcare professionals and other agencies.

Ensure clinical documentation is completed accurately, appropriately and in a timely manner.

Develop, monitor and maintain standards or care in accordance with Trust policies, guidelines, protocols and professional regulations.

In collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, participate in the continuing development of the hysteroscopy services. That includes patient centred evidence-based programmes of care and a continuous quality improvement programme.

Participate in the development and implementation of the multi-professional standards and clinical protocols for Hysteroscopy services.

Participate in the educational provision of information for women and their partners/ families so that they are empowered to manage their condition and seek appropriate help and advice.

With support, will act as an educational resource for members of the multidisciplinary team and for other health professionals within the department and Trust.

With support and close collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to participate in informal educational programmes for staff, including undergraduates, nursing and medical staff.

Act as a resource for the Trust.

Update and maintain own competencies and development, including appropriate conferences, study days and training.

Promote health education and holistic patient care using all appropriate resources.

Responsible for ensuring that mentoring and teaching to support staff education and learning is in place.

Research and Audit

Participate in collaborative research projects that improve the quality of care and health outcomes.

Participate in audit activities to assess and monitor the quality of care and assist in the implementation of change based on the findings.
