Job summary
Applications are invited for an initial 12-month post with the option of converting to a fixed term appointment, for an experienced speciality doctor in breast surgery at South Warwickshire NHS, to start May / June 2023.
We are looking for a friendly, highly enthusiastic doctor to join the well-regarded breast team at Warwick Hospital. The candidate should be motivated and caring and will complement the existing team.
Support for the new appointee will primarily be from the consultant breast surgeons and the wider breast team. Training can be given in both clinics and theatre. The new appointee will be encouraged to participate in on going audits and to submit work for presentation and publication at local and national meetings. The Trust has a supportive environment and is small enough for personal contact with colleagues from a wide variety of disciplines.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be expected to support a range of breast clinics, to be competent to see patients in their own clinics (younger women clinic, family history clinic) and to help in breast theatre / manage breast emergencies. Support and training given if needed.
It is also expected that the individual will take part in service development projects, audits, and research. It would also help if they had an interest in medical student teaching
About us
The Warwick breast team is a well-regarded team treating around 280 breast cancers per year. There are 4 oncoplastic breast consultants offering a wide range of onco-plastic and breast reconstructive procedures. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the breast team was based in a new purpose-built unit with consultant radiology support providing immediate reporting. There are close links with the Coventry screening unit who join us for the breast MDT meeting. We are looking for a motivated and caring individual who will complement our team.

In addition, this post offers the opportunity to have sessions assigned to a service improvement project. It is expected that a minimum of 7 sessions will be assigned to direct clinical care.
This post has no on-call commitment.
