Job summary
We require a sub specialist Knee Surgeon (capable of managing both Arthroplasty & Soft Tissue surgery). This post will be for 5 months starting from 1st March 2023
The successful applicant will have interests that compliment the skills of the existing team of 8 full-time, 3 part-time and 2 Locum Consultants. We require expertise in managing complex knee & periprosthetic trauma work and so expect applicants to be confident in dealing with such cases.
The post will be a 10PA contract and will include flexible new and follow up clinics & operating sessions. It will be a 5 week ahead planned rota.
Main duties of the job
To support the delivery of the inpatient Orthopaedic service at Warwick Hospital.To support the management of soft tissue knee and knee arthroplasty surgery. The post holder will be expected to undertake new and follow up clinics and operating sessions for the orthopaedic department. The basic working week has core hours from 8.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. Monday to Friday, totalling 40 hours. There is no on call element.
About us
There are currently 13 Orthopaedic Consultants that provide Orthopaedic services within the Trust. The Consultants are supported by:
An Associate Specialist (Mr. Bello Dikko)
One Senior Orthopaedic Fellow
7 middle grade Doctors
4 Specialist Registrars from the West Midlands Deanery (totalling 11)
Junior training grades who form part of a combined junior surgical out of hour's rota.
Greville Ward: Is a 20 bedded Elective Orthopaedic Ward (all patients pre-screened for MRSA) where all patients requiring Joint replacement surgery are treated.
Thomas Ward: is a 22 bedded trauma and orthopaedic ward. The ward also accommodates some Ortho-geriatric patients. Charlecote ward is a designated Orthogeriatric ward that fractured neck of femur patients transfer to in their post-operative period.
