Job summary

Here at Caf Lomas we want to ensure our team serve a memorable experience to our customers. The caf serves excellent coffee, snacks and a range of freshly prepared menu items to staff, visitors and patients at Stratford Hospital and we want to ensure that everyone, not only receives great care but excellent food and service. We have an exciting opportunity for a friendly and personable individual to work in Caf Lomas and The Lomas Suite at The Health and Wellbeing Information Centre within Stratford Hospital.

Working hours will need to be flexible due to opening and closing times at the hospital, currently open Monday - Friday between 7:30 and 17:00.

You will have a natural and creative interest in food and healthy eating as well as a sound knowledge of hygiene requirements. We are looking for a compassionate and personable individual who shares our vision of putting the health and wellbeing of all our staff and customers first whilst providing uplifting moments for those visiting or receiving treatment.

We are a unique space with a small friendly group so need to be a team player who can work alongside: volunteers, participators in work experience and all other staff, patients and visitors to the hospital, with outstanding communication and customer service skills.

Main duties of the job

The Health and Wellbeing Centre currently provides a welcoming environment where information is available on a wide range of supportive services to the population of Stratford-upon-Avon and South Warwickshire. The space serves the people in our community, working in partnership with local charities and communities groups. Based at Stratford Hospital the Health and Wellbeing Information Centre comprises of The Information Centre, Caf Lomas and The Lomas Suite.

The role of the Front of House Assistant will be varied and interesting including the preparation and serving of food and beverage items in our retail area of Caf Lomas and The Lomas Suite, both located in the Health and Wellbeing Information Centre.

There is a Manager who is responsible for the overall running of the Centre but on a day to day basis you will be working closely with the Volunteer and Health and Wellbeing Information Centre Co-ordinator alongside other team members which include Volunteers, Work Experience Students and staff throughout the building.

Working with the team to ensure the smooth and successful day to day running of Caf/Kitchen Lomas and The Lomas Hospitality Suite.

Ensuring the Health and Wellbeing Information Centre is clean and ready for service each day.

Preparation of menu items in readiness of service times.

Freshly prepare and serve food to order.

Support caf/kitchen with its day to day administration including: cash handling using an EPOS till and card machine, ordering and receiving supplies and retail stock.

Ensure all work procedures are in line with the good practice of The South Warwickshire NHS Trust and data protection rules are adhered to.

To follow the monitoring systems as detailed in the HACCP.

To ensure good stock rotation and the security of said stock.

To adhere to the cleaning schedule and to ensure clean as you go rules are followed, ensuring the kitchen and front of house are clean and tidy at all times.

To report discovered defects within the caf Lomas area.

To be responsible for the safe use of equipment including the electronic cash register, coffee barrister machine and adhering to training given and standing financial instructions.

To adhere to all Trust policy, Food Hygiene Policy and associated codes of practice and Food Hygiene legislation.

To provide a polite and courteous service and always be aware of the customers needs and special requirements such as allergens.

To monitor and collate customer requests and feedback using the documentation as instructed.

Oversee the work of staff, work experience team members or volunteers for which you will be responsible, delegating tasks as appropriate.

To report any injury or accident to self or others to the HWBIC Co-ordinator.

To be aware of the conditions associated with a working kitchen, physical, hot and exposed to dirt, dust and noise. Wearing PPE when required.

Customer service experience face to face and via the telephone.

Ability to monitor and collate data efficiently.

Experience of keeping accurate records for audit on orders, deliveries, cleaning, food hygiene related systems and food waste.

Knowledge of food hygiene measured by the Level 2 in food hygiene plus ongoing refresher training.
