Solihull Health Visiting Team are Recruiting a Community Nursery Nurse

Hours available 22.5 - 37.5 hours per week.

Main duties of the job

The Community Nursery Nurse will work both independently and as part of the health visiting team to promote positive outcomes for children and young people. The main duties include supporting parents/carers by providing information and care interventions on a wide range of public health and development issues such as child development, sleep issues, introducing solids, toileting and behaviour management.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Undertake delegated work to improve health outcomes for children and families in the community setting, in a variety of ways including 1:1 work, group work, home visiting, nursery settings and advice via telephone and video call.

Undertakes delegated pieces of work with families who are referred or request support.

Submit accurate and timely activity data to ensure that key performance indicator targets set by the Trust/and or the local authority are monitored, and outcomes achieved.

Support health needs assessment, undertake tasks delegated by the health visitor including; developmental assessments, accepting and responding to assigned work, deliver brief interventions and feedback progress to the health visitor.

To attend safeguarding training; have a knowledge and understanding of current child protection guidelines, recognising if children are in need of protection and to report concerns to a health visitor and complete required referrals in line with Trust and local safeguarding policy and procedures.

Support the team to deliver public health initiatives which are consistent with national/local messages.

Work collaboratively with other members of the health visiting team to deliver services, face-to-face and virtually.

Respond appropriately to general enquires from parents/carers, nursery staff and other professionals referring back to the health visitor as required.

To act as a resource to nurseries, parents/carers and provide information on health initiatives, e.g. healthy eating

Follow and adhere to the standards and guidelines set for Health Visiting to ensure a consistent approach is followed.

Support the uptake of the childhood immunisation programme when opportunities arise during contacts with children and families.

Ensure that confidentiality is upheld at all times, as per Trust guidelines.

Attend the Trust statutory and mandatory training programme specific to the role ensuring that training completed follows the essential skills policy including regular appraisal.

Participate in/access group or team clinical supervision.

Participate in and contribute to team/locality meetings to keep up to date with Trust information.

In accordance with Trust guidelines for record keeping, maintain and keep contemporaneous records of all client contacts on the Electronic Patient Record system.

Participate in clinical audits and clinical bench marking to improve service care and delivery.

Communications and Working Relationships:

Support the local induction/training programmes for new staff, and other appropriate workers.
