Main duties of the job
The Clinical Lead - Digital is a senior clinical role responsible for improving how patient information is shared and used across SWASFT and the wider South West health system to support better decision-making at the point of care. The post holder leads clinical input into digital projects, working with frontline crews, digital teams, and system partners to identify barriers to information sharing, design and implement solutions, and ensure these meet clinical needs and safety standards. They coordinate regional project activity, support service and pathway transformation (including alternatives to ED attendance), and contribute to quality improvement through data analysis, audits, and evaluation of outcomes. The role also involves strong stakeholder engagement, representing the Trust at operational and strategic levels, and acting as a bridge between clinical, digital, and operational functions. In addition, the individual maintains operational clinical competence, provides clinical advice and case review, supports patient safety and risk management processes, and contributes to policy, training, and system development to enhance patient care and service delivery. This role will also be a fundamental role within the current Electronic Patient Record (EPR) procurement exercise and delivery.
