Job summary

The EMD Development Coordinator will play a vital role in ensuring the safe, confident, and efficient development of Emergency Medical Dispatchers (EMDs) throughout their entire employment journey. This includes involvement at the recruitment stage, supporting new EMDs from initial training into independent practice, as well as providing ongoing development, coordination and coaching to support EMD's development into roles such as Senior EMD and EMD Team Leader.The postholder will work closely with EMD Team Leaders to coordinate development requirements relevant to the EMD and Senior EMD roles, ensuring consistent support, effective communication, and a cohesive approach to maintain EMD and Senior EMD competence.

The EMD Development Coordinator will maintain oversight of the EMDs preparing for progression to Senior EMD role, supporting the EMD Team Leaders in signing of relevant competencies. They will then maintain oversight of the planning of the Senior EMD workstreams, ensuring all Senior EMDs receive the appropriate opportunities to maintain competency in their role.

Main duties of the job

o Lead the EMD recruitment, including welcoming EMD applicants at the initial assessment day and holding subsequent interviews for successful candidates.o Provide structured support to new EMDs transitioning from classroom training to the live call-taking environment.o Coordinate and oversee the mentoring and sign-off process.o Act as a named point of contact for all new starters.o Monitor early development and escalate concerns appropriately.o Identify trends, themes, and emerging risks.o Document assessments and development reviews.o Support delivery of skills refreshers and coaching.o To maintain oversight of EMDs progressing into the Senior EMD role, supporting the EMD Team Leaders in signing off the relevant competencies.o Maintain oversight of the Senior EMDs portfolio; ensuring all Senior EMDs maintain competency in role with access to all elements of the role. o Improve onboarding efficiency and reduce time-to-competence.o Support CPD for existing EMDs.o Assist with planning and coordinating development plans.o Promote consistency across EMD training and competency assessment.
