Job summary
This role sits within the Digital Data and Technology (DDaT) function as part of the Information Governance Team. Working closely with the Information Governance Manager this role is pivotal to the smooth running of the team and maintaining the Trust compliance in regard to Freedom of Information Requests (FOI); Subject Access Requests (SARs); Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT) and recording and reporting the functions risk posture. This role has a wide portfolio of responsibilities but is supported by the IG team and others across the DDaT function in their delivery.
Leading a team this role will assist the Information Governance Manager in the management and processing of the IG Team appraisals, managing sickness and providing development and training as well as supporting the Information Governance Manager in the management and processing of Information requests and other responsibilities under the Act to ensure mandatory and legal requirements are met.
Support the Information Governance Manager by leading and managing the requirements of the Data Security and Protection Toolkit and all other aspects of the Information Governance agenda to ensure it meets the required compliance.
Through training and communications ensure staff across the Trust have an understanding of the basics of cyber security and data protection, so that they know how to handle information pertaining to their job and are not susceptible to scams or phishing.
Main duties of the job
Working with the IG Manager to deliver the Trust's Information Governance Function, ensuring the team are well led and receive appropriate support and supervision in line with Trust policies.
Create, implement and develop Trust-wide strategies, policies and processes to mitigate the risks posed by threats to the Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability of the Trust's information assets.
Maintain effective data management systems for the logging and reporting of all Information Governance requests. Ensure all staff are adequately trained in the use of these systems and supporting documentation is comprehensive and up to date.
Maintain policies and standard operating procedures within the Information Governance Function to ensure all current relevant legislation is adhered to.
Maintain and review all documented data protection policies and procedures in a timely manner to ensure they are current and complete and continue to meet all legislative requirements.
Monitor and review all completed disclosures under the Data Protection Act to ensure they observe all legislative requirements and the relevant staff adhere to departmental policies and procedures.
