Job summary
In this role you will be responsible for assessment (including remote triage based at Local Clinical Cells/Clinical Hubs) care, treatment and transportation of patients as an operational practitioner, working in a variety of locations such as ambulances, response vehicles, patients' homes, Local Clinical Cells/Clinical Hubs, primary care settings, minor injury units and accident and emergency departments. Provide effective clinical leadership, development and mentorship to operational personnel to support the delivery of high quality out of hospital care by competent employees.
Main duties of the job
Carry out all duties as set out in the Paramedic job description as part of an operational crew, on a rapid response vehicle or in other appropriate areas/vehicles.
Operate as an autonomous SPUEC utilising an advanced scope of practice anddemonstrating clinical leadership and co-ordination skills in dealing with incidents or events, which may include liaison with ambulance service managers, other emergency services, specialist teams and other health care professionals.
To undertake duties in the Local Clinical Cells/Clinical Hubs, in a clinical advisory capacity including remote triage and prioritisation of emergency and urgent calls to determineappropriate service responses. This includes assessment and co-ordination of clinical advice calls from operational ambulance crews and responders.
Reduce inappropriate demand for emergency services by referring patients to appropriate health and social care agencies in response to emergency/urgent calls not requiring hospital attendance.
Deliver a flexible ambulance service response crossing professional boundaries as necessary and strengthening the delivery of unscheduled care.
To work on a rotational basis asrequired, in collaborative working partnerships; including G.P. Practices, Primary Care Centres, Walk in Centres, Emergency Departments and Minor Injuries Units etc. This may include requesting appropriate diagnostic tests as applicable to patient need, e.g. X-ray, Blood Test, ECG, to enhance patient care.
